As with any strong family bond, our grandparents were and remain the backbone of our family! Many years ago, our grandmother, who was the youngest child born to her family in Mexico, came to the United States and gained citizenship in the Los Angeles County area. She was a very hardworking young woman who provided for her family by utilizing community resources at food banks, local churches and parks, as well as, working long hours as a nurse and caregiver, to ensure her family always had food on the table.
Our grandmother always had a mind for new business opportunities that would give back to her community. She started a business by opening a thrift store to provide access to families in need of clothing. In addition, she started a cleaning business; acquiring clients from "over-the-hill", in the very glamorous city of Beverly Hills (she always dreamed big).
You see, our grandmother, the matriarch of our family, experienced homelessness; as a result, she was driven with empathy and determination to connect her clients with the same supportive services that would prove beneficial to families within her community.
Our grandfather, although, not our biological grandfather, loved our grandmother very much. He was her heart's joy! Our grandfather was a great father-figure who raised our grandmother's children and grandchildren with love and compassion. While our grandfather faced his own challenges, he was very committed to his family as well as his community. He spread so much happiness when he traveled with local carnivals. He was so proud of his family, that many could often find him at the local McDonald's drinking coffee and bragging about his beloved family.
Our grandparents were trendsetters and instilled a high standard within our family to always do all that we can to help and assist families in the community by striving to spread hope to live a good life, for this and the next generation!
